Self Hosting FlowPaper Publications

Question

I have been using FlowPaper to publish pdfs for accessibility in my cloud-reader site. I have recently encountered a strange prompt message when I tried accessing a particular pdf format book.  The error message reads "www.example.com says Incorrect hosting domain". After clicking OK button on the prompt window the loader keeps animating but the book never opened. What could be the cause and how do I solve it?

Answer

Its usually because the wrong domain name was entered in the publishing window (which appears when you click publish in the top right corner of the desktop publisher). Double check that the correct domain is in the top text box before clicking publish and you should be ok

All our viewers support password protection for the publications uploaded on FlowPaper cloud - you can find the settings for password protection in the publishing dialogue that pops up when you click “Publish". The second option "Share on FlowPaper Cloud" has a section labelled "Show Advanced Settings". The password option in there allows you to set a password to your publication

I’m using flowpaper to view PDF files on my website. But when the PDF is getting loaded in viewer, PDF's absolute URL is getting exposed in browser's network console as Request URL. Is there any way we can hide or somehow decode the absolute URL.

Use our desktop publisher and make sure you have flatten/compress on if you want to use our Zine viewer. By doing this the viewer won't use the PDF file any longer when rendering the output and the resources are obfuscated into binary files only readable by FlowPaper.

Question

I want to disable print and make sure noone can print from the browser.

Answer

You can remove the print icon in the publisher, to prevent people from printing the whole documnet. However, you can't prevent people from using the print in the browser. But the only thing that will be printed when printed using the browser print is the page/pages that are visible on screen. You can't prevent this just as you can't prevent people from taking screen-shots (and then printing these).

Can I remove the download button from the Wordpress plugin?

Question

How to remove the download button in the FlowPaper plugin?

Answer

This is possible with any of our commercial licenses- use our desktop publisher and disable the download button (after importing your PDF file) on the right hand side in the "UI Components" section. The best protection we have to offer is with our Elements viewer. It takes a PDF and converts its resources including its fonts to real HTML5 fonts. When it does this you have the option of scrambling the font/text and locking the font to the domain you're publishing on. Elements is part of our 'Creative' License.

Question

Are project uploaded in the cloud blocked for search engines?
